Disco Tristesse And Other Artworks

Die oberen zwei Fotos wurden von dem Kunstwerk "Disco Tristesse" gemacht. Der Mercedesstern dreht sich wie eine Discokugel in ständig wechselndem Licht. Die beiden Kunstwerke in der Mitte sind ohne Namen. Zu sehen sind Badezimmerszenen sowie ein Fuchs mit geöffneter Bauchdecke. Unten sind auf einem Bildschirm verschiedene Videos zu sehen, die eine Gesamtlaufzeit von über 11 Minuten haben und von verschiedenen Künstlern stammen. Alle diese Kunstwerke in den sogenannten "Hängenden Quadern" sind in der Arnulf-Klett-Passage an den Zugängen zur Stadtbahn zu sehen. Zu jedem Video und zu jedem anderen Kunstwerk wurden übrigens auch Beschreibungen angebracht.

The two photos above were made from an artwork named "Disco Tristesse". The symbol of the Mercedes cars is going around in changing lighs like a mirror ball. The two artworks in the middle of the picture are without names. You can see some different bathroom scenes and a standing fox with an open abdominal wall. The artwork below is built up of 3 different video clips with an entire playing time of more than 11 minutes. The videos are made from different artists. All these artworks in the "Hanging Cuboids" are situated in the Arnulf-Klett-Passage at the accesses to the lines of the city railway. There are also detailed descriptions for every cuboid and video.

Where are the "Wagenhallen"? This architectural ensemble which is used as an artists' colony is situated behind the skeleton.

Schnurstracks geradeaus geht es auf der Johannesstraße auf die evangelische Johanneskirche am Feuersee zu.

The Johannesstraße goes directly to the Protestant church named Johanneskirche. The church is situated at the Feuersee.

Eine imposante Kirche. Aber irgendwie habe ich auch hier den Eindruck, man könnte den Turm noch vollenden.

It's an impressive church. Here I'm also struck that the tower waits for its finishing.

So sieht die Vorderseite des Rathauses aus. Links oben befindet sich der Sitzungssaal.

This is the front side of the town hall. Top left there is the assembly hall.

Die Rückseite an der Neuen Brücke zeigt, wie das Rathaus vor der Zerstörung im Zweiten Weltkrieg ausgesehen hat.

The back side at the street named Neue Brücke is suggestive of the look before the partial demolition in the WWII.

Diese Türen oder Tore gehören zum Rathaus der Stadt Stuttgart. Das linke ist der Haupteingang des Gebäudes, die beiden anderen werden wohl als Ausgänge benutzt.

These doors are part of the town hall of Stuttgart. The left one is the main entrance of that building. The others are used possibly as exits.

Der Turm des Hauptbahnhofes war einige Tage lang wegen des herrlichen Sonnenscheins gut bestrahlt. Das linke Bild wurde am Schlossplatz aufgenommen, die Sicht geht die Königsstraße entlang. Das rechte Bild enstand 3 Tage zuvor direkt am Hauptbahnhof. Es war einen Tag nach der Absperrung des Südflügels.

The tower of the main station was all aglow for some days because of the wonderful sunny weather. The left photo was made at the Schlossplatz. The view goes along the famous Königstraße. The right photo was made 3 days before at the main station. It was the day after the blocking of the southern wing of the station.

Auch am Abend ist das Licht wunderbar. Hier ein Blick von Mönchfeld auf den Max-Eyth-See (rechts), Münster, Neugereut und Mühlhausen. Auch der Neckar ist im Vordergrund im Bild zu sehen.

Also in the evening the light can be wonderful. This is a view from Mönchfeld. On the right there is the Max-Eyth-See. The view goes from Münster and Neugereut to Mühlhausen. You can also see the Neckar in the foreground.

Leider kann die Kamera nicht das einfangen, was das Auge sieht. Es ist so friedlich im Park der Villa Berg. Die Stimmung ist morgens einmalig schön. Gerade richtig, um vor Beginn der Arbeit ordentlich durchzuatmen.

Unfortunately my camera isn't able to capture light and colours in a similar manner like my eyes. It's very peaceful in the Villa Berg park in the morning. There is an uniquely beautiful atmosphere. It's just the right time to breathe deeply before beginning the work.

Fountains Of Stuttgart, No. 000024

Das ist der Erbsenbrunnen vor der Einmündung zur Erbsenbrunnengasse. Auf einem Schild steht zur Herkunft des Brunnen-Namens geschrieben, dass hier das einzige Süßwasser der Stadt sprudelte, welches zum Einweichen getrockneter Erbsen geeignet war.

This is the Erbsenbrunnen (pea's fountain). It is situated in front of the branch to the Erbsenbrunnengasse. On a plate you can read that this fountain has given the only sweet water in the city. Therefore this water was most suitable for soaking of dried peas.

Hätte ich dem Knaben ein Feigenblatt verpassen sollen?

How about a fig leaf for the boy?

Mmhhhh, leckeres Süßwasser. Abfüllen erlaubt.

It Was Hard To Find An Ideal Position

Das ist die evangelische Stadtkirche von Bad Cannstatt. Sie wurde von 1471 bis 1506 von Aberlin Joerg erbaut. Der Turm kam später hinzu, er wurde von 1612 - 1618 von Heinrich Schickhardt errichtet. Zwei Erneuerungen hat die Kirche erfahren, von 1858 - 1905 und von 1962 - 1968.

This is the Protestant parish church of Bad Cannstatt. It was built from 1471 to 1506 by Aberlin Joerg. Mr. Joerg was the most important architect and master builder of the late Gothic church building of the 15th century. The spire was built later from 1612 to 1618 by Heinrich Schickhardt. There were 2 renovations from 1858 to 1905 and from 1962 to 1968.

Dieses offensichtlich selbsthergestellte Wirtshauszeichen hat meine Aufmerksamkeit erregt.

This apparently self-made restaurant signboard has attracted my attention.

Auch der schwäbisch klingende Name des Restaurants (typisches "le" am Ende) klingt ebenfalls interessant.

The Swabian-sounding name "Zickle" (notice the "le" which is a belittlement and means small goat) of this restaurant sounds interesting too.

Aber hier ist kein schwäbsiches Restautrant mehr, sondern ein italienisches. Ich hab's noch nicht besuchen können, aber es soll dennoch gemütlich sein.

But there isn't no more a Swabian wine tavern. Now it is an Italian restaurant. I'm pinched for time in the moment. Therefore I'm not able to stop for a bite to eat. I've read about a cosy and cordial place.

Der Jakobsbrunnen am gleichnamigen Platz und vor einem Restaurant mit gleichen Namen ist ganzjährig in Betrieb. Erbaut wurde er im Jahre 1834 - so die römische Zahl MDCCCXXXIV unter dem Cannstatter Wappen.

This is the fountain named Jakobsbrunnen. It is situated at a square and in front of a restaurant of the same names. The fountain is in operation the whole year. It was built in 1834 after the Roman number under the emblem of (Bad) Cannstatt.

Die Feuerwache 3 Bad Cannstatt befindet sich gegenüber vom Wasengelände an der Mercedesstraße.

The fire station no. 3 in Bad Cannstatt ist situated across from the Wasen area at the Mercedesstraße.

Das Wandgemälde ist sehr interessant.

Unterschiedlicher können Gebäude nicht sein. Das linke ist sehr alt und benötigt einen neuen und einheitlichen Anstrich. Das rechte Gebäude ist eine moderne Stahl-Glas-Konstruktion und besticht durch seine Schnörkellosigkeit.

These buildings couldn't be more different. The left one is very old and needs a new and consistent painting. The right building is a modern construction made of steel and glass. The appeal of that building lies in its uncomplicated design.
