Blick auf das Wohngebiet Eulenrain, nahe der Geroksruhe. Während der Teil auf dem Hügel schon am frühen Morgen von der Sonne verwöhnt wird, liegen die Häuser darunter noch im Schatten. Dessen Bewohner haben noch die Möglichkeit, ihre Wohnungen gut durchzulüften.

View to the residential area at the Eulenrain (owl's baulk ) near Geroksruhe. The part on the hill is already coddled by sun in the morning. But the part below is still in the shadow and its residents can use the fresh air to ventilate their apartments.

Morning Has Broken

Blick auf die Turnhalle der Merz-Schule an der Geroksruhe am frühen Morgen. Im Hintergrund der Fernmeldeturm auf dem Frauenkopf. Der Turm hat eine Höhe von 192,4 Metern und ist von 1970 - 1972 in Stahlbetonbauweise errichtet worden. Er ist Eigentum der Deutschen Telekom AG und leider der Öffentlichkeit nicht zugänglich.

The Lookout Point Named Geroksruhe

Das ist die eigentliche Geroksruhe, der zwischen Gänsheide und Waldebene Ost gelegene Aussichtspunkt. Von hier aus hat man einen herrlichen Ausblick auf das nordöstliche bis südöstliche Stuttgart. Gleich nebenan gibt es einen großzügig angelegten Spielplatz.

This is the "real" Geroksruhe. It is a lookout point between Gänsheide and Waldebene Ost. There is a beautiful view to the Northeast and Southeast of Stuttgart. To the left of this point there is a generously laid out playground.

Der Name "Geroksruhe" leitet sich von Karl Friedrich Gerok ab.

The name "Geroksruhe" derives from Karl Friedrich Gerok, a German theologian and lyricist. He primarily lived and worked in Stuttgart.

Hier wird u.a. Tennis gespielt. Ich kam mir beim Knipsen wie ein Papparazzo vor ... Trotz bereits hoher Temperaturen am späten Vormittag waren alle Plätze belegt.

There are some tennis courts. I felt like a paparazzo during the shootings ... It's already hot in the late forenoon. Nevertheless all of the courts were taken.
