In einer Seitenstraße in Ostfildern sah ich diese holzverkleideten Wohnhäuser.

Neue Wohnhäuser auf dem Killesberg. Mein Liebling ist das riesige "Schaufenster".

New And Old

In S-Freiberg wurde ein Gebäudekomplex noch nicht ganz fertig renoviert. So kann man Vorher und Nachher sehr gut erkennen.

This building complex in Freiberg is not ready renovated yet. So you can different between before and afterwards.

Building Activity In Rot

Rot putzt sich heraus. In die Jahre gekommene Wohnhäuser wurden dem Erboden gleichgemacht und Baugruben ausgehoben. Und es wird fleißig gebaut. Das zweite Haus hinter der Tafel wird auch gerade entkernt und in Bälde abgerissen.  Ich frage mich nur, was aus den Bewohnern geworden ist. Werden sie hier wieder wohnen?

Rot prinks itself up. Dated apartment buildings were razed to the ground and building pits were diged. Building activities are hardly to be overlooked. The house behind the board on the first shot is gutted in the moment and it will be demolished in the near future. I wonder about the residents and their fates. If they will live here again?

Ecki's Garden

Ecki hat sich ein richtig tolles Schild für sein Gartentor machen lassen. Nebenan wird unterdessen fleißig gearbeitet. Oder etwa doch nicht? Gehen wir der Sache mal auf den Grund ...

Living With The Viaduct

Ich glaube, die Menschen in Zazenhausen haben sich ganz gut mit dem Viadukt arrangiert. Und wer hat schon einen Schrebergarten mit mächtigen Betonpfeilern? Vielleicht sollte man sie hier grün anstreichen...

It seems that the poeple of Zazenhausen have arranged themselves with the viaduct. Who has an allotment garden with heavy concrete archs? I think they could do with a lick of green paint...

Before And After

Wie man in die Jahre gekommene Wohnhäuser ordentlich aufmöbeln kann soll obiges Foto verdeutlichen. In S-Rot stehen bereits sanierte und noch auf eine Sanierung wartende Gebäude nebeneinander.

Green As Far As The Eye Can See

In Stuttgart, insbesondere in den Außenbezirken, gibt es viiiiieeeeeel Grün. Ab und zu stehen ein paar Häuser, dabei sind die Höhenlagen Stuttgarts besonders beliebt.

There is a lot of green particularly in Stuttgart's peripheries. Sometimes a few buildings break through the idyl. The hilly areas of Stuttgart are very popular as living environment.

Oases In The Heusteigviertel

Behind the wooden fence could lie quiet a small recreation oasis with trees, bushes and flowers. There could be some benches for the grown-ups and a sandbox for the kids too. I don't know anything about it because this private property was inaccessible for me.

The House Of Thousand Mailboxes

Ich möchte Euch nicht das besagte Hochhaus mit den unzähligen Briefkästen vorenthalten. Besonders ansprechend fand ich die hübsche Bepflanzung im Vordergrund.

I don't want to deprive you the high-riser with the numberless mailboxes. Look the planting in the foreground. It looks really wonderful.

Live And Let Live

Ein farbenfrohes Hochhaus in S-Freiberg. Davor, getrennt durch eine Straße und die Stadtbahnlinie U7, befindet sich ein Sportplatz und eine kleine Grünanlage.

You see a colourful tower block in Stuttgart-Freiberg. Not far from this building there are a sports field and a small green space.

Keep Cool Mr. Fischer!

Das ist die Skulptur von J. G. Fischer an der Hasenbergsteige im Stuttgarter Westen. Der Hasenberg gehört zu den erstklassigen Wohnlagen von Stuttgart. Von Heslach kommend, laufe ich hier gerne spazieren.

This is the sculpture of J. G. Fischer, a German poet and playwright who lived from 1816 to 1897. It is situated on a street named Hasenbergsteige in the Western part of Stuttgart. The "Hasenberg" is one of the top addresses in Stuttgart. Coming from Heslach I enjoy to walk here.

Keeping A Roof Overhead

Typisches Straßenbild in Ostheim, einem Teil von Stuttgart-Ost. Alte, zum Teil liebevoll restaurierte Häuser, gibt es hier noch.

A typical street scene in Ostheim, a part of the Eastern Stuttgart. There are still many old and lovingly refurbished houses.

Ostheim wurde als eine Arbeitersiedlung gegründet. Preiswerte Wohungen für die arbeitende Klasse war das Ziel.

Ostheim was founded as a workers' housing estate. There were built cheap apartments for the working class.

Living In Stuttgart

Eine typische Anwohnerstraße in Heslach. Kein Durchgangsverkehr stört hier hier die Ruhe der Bewohner. 

You see a typical small street in Heslach's residential area. There is no through traffic which could disturb the people's privacy.

The Brighter The Light, The Deeper The Shadow

Blick auf das Wohngebiet Eulenrain, nahe der Geroksruhe. Während der Teil auf dem Hügel schon am frühen Morgen von der Sonne verwöhnt wird, liegen die Häuser darunter noch im Schatten. Dessen Bewohner haben noch die Möglichkeit, ihre Wohnungen gut durchzulüften.

View to the residential area at the Eulenrain (owl's baulk ) near Geroksruhe. The part on the hill is already coddled by sun in the morning. But the part below is still in the shadow and its residents can use the fresh air to ventilate their apartments.

Hocketse #2

Deftiges vom Grill, Bier vom Fass, natürlich Wein und alkoholfreie Getränke wurden feilgeboten.
Solid meals from the barbie, keg beer, Swabian wine and nonalcoholic beverages were offered.

So sieht eine angeregte Unterhaltung aus. This is an animated talking.

Hocketse #1

Heute und morgen möchte ich ein paar Impressionen der Mai-Hocketse vom Heslacher Bihlplatz präsentieren. Bei einer Hocketse handelt es sich schlicht und ergreifend um ein geselliges Beisammensein, man plaudert bzw. schwätzt ein wenig, dazu wird selbstverständlich gegessen und getrunken. Auf dem ersten Bild ist der Maibaum zu sehen. Zu den blauen Socken werde ich mich noch zu einem anderen Zeitpunkt äußern.

I want to show you some impressions from the Hocketse on Bihlplatz in Heslach. Hocketse is a Swabian word for a get-together where you schmooze with friends or neighbours. Needless to say that there is enough to drink and to eat. On the first shot you see the maypole. Do you realize the blue socks? I want to explain their meaning at a later date. This documentation will be continued tomorrow.

Jogging And Talking With Dog

Es war ein herrlicher Tag, um im Wald mit dem Kumpel zu laufen und zu quatschen und sogar noch den Hund auszuführen. Wer sagt da noch, wir Männer seien nicht multitaskingfähig?

It was a lovely day to jogging in the forest and to talking with the best friend and to taking the dog out in the meantime. Who wants to assert that men are not able to multitask?

My Home Is My Castle

Diese Häuser, fast unter der Eisenbahnbrücke, befinden sich am Nordbahnhof. Ich habe keine Ahnung davon, wie es sein muss, darin zu wohnen. Ich hoffe für die Bewohner, dass sie sich mit extra dicken Wänden und ordentlichen Schallschutzfenstern gerüstet haben. Was war wohl zuerst da - Haus oder Brücke?
These homes are almost situated under the railway bridge opposite to the station Nordbahnhof. I don't know the living conditions in these homes. I hope the occupants have prevent with thick walls and very well sound proof windows. What was there at first - the bridge or the houses?
