St Zen Sch

Wappen und Inschrift "St Zen Sch" an der Zehntscheuer in S-Zuffenhausen. Das Chorherrenstift zum Hl. Kreuz in Stuttgart war lange Eigentümer des Gebäudes. 1569 wurde es als Stiftsscheuer neu erbaut. Seit 1988 ist es Bürgerzentrum.

Coat of arms and inscription "St Zen Sch" at the Zehntscheuer building in Zuffenhausen. The convent of canons "Zum Heiligen Kreuz" in Stuttgart was owner of this building for a long time. In 1569 a new building was erected to use it as a convents' barn. Now it is a community center.

The Happy-Making Church, 2

Die Helle, die farbenfrohen Malereien und die lockere Bestuhlung machen diese Kirche zu einer fröhlich stimmenden."Fröhlich stimmend" war der erste Gedanke, der mir in den Sinn kam, als ich die Kirche betrat.

The lightness, the colourful paintings and the easy seating make this church to a happy-making one. "Happy-Making" was the first thought when I've entered the sanctuary.

This is a view through a courtyard entrance at Colmarer Straße. Why I've refered to this building as a happy-making or bright-provoking church? I'll let the cat out of the bag tomorrow.

Mysterious Artefacts Above Zuffenhausen?

Mysteriöse Objekte über Zuffenhausen? Ich bin noch nicht ganz schlau geworden aus den Vorrichtungen, die sich da auf dem Grundstück des Kinder- und Jugendhauses Zuffenhausen, auch "Haus 11" genannt, befinden. Ich vermute, irgendwas zum Klettern. Ich werde zu gegebener Zeit einen weiteren Besuch einplanen.

Mysterious Artefacts Above Zuffenhausen? I'm not able yet to make head or tail of these equipments which are situated at the ground of the "Kinder- und Jugendhaus Zuffenhausen" or "Haus 11". I suppose it could be giant climbing scaffolds. I'll make a visit in due time.

Stuttgart's Staeffele #11: From Bartensteiner Straße To Hohenloher Straße

Das ist die mit Schnee und Eis bedeckte Mönchsbergstaffel zwischen Hohenloher Straße (unten) und Bartensteiner Straße (oben). Sie hat läppische 46 Stufen.

This is the Mönchsbergstaffel between Hohenloher Straße (at the bottom) and Bartensteiner Straße (at the top). As you can see it is full of snow and ice. There are only 46 steps to go.

A Garden Full Of Art

Im Zuffenhäuser Wohngebiet Mönchsberg stehen in einem Garten diese gigantischen Holzfiguren.

There are these giant wooden figures in a garden which is situtated in a part of Zuffenhausen named Mönchsberg.

The Mishandled Villa

An der Ludwigsburger Straße in S-Zuffenhausen steht dieses an sich schöne Haus. "Wehr Dich!" sollte man ihm zurufen. Wirklich schade, wie man Haus und Hof so misshandeln kann... Unten ist die Villa etwas detaillierter zu sehen.

There is this intrinsically beautiful house at Ludwigsburger Straße in Zuffenhausen. You should cry "Fight Back" to him. It's too bad about the mishandling of house and court... You can see the mansion more detailed at the bottom.

What A Surprise!

Ganz so trostlos ist der Vorplatz also doch nicht. Ein Teil der langweiligen Häuserfassade hat einen farbenfrohen Anstrich erhalten und zwei Kunstwerke werten den Platz auf. Und wenn die Blumenkübel wieder bepflanzt sind ...

The forecourt isn't really dreary. A part of the boring facade got a colourful painting and two artworks enhance the place. And if the plant containers are replanted again ...

A Shabby Place?

Der Bahnhofsvorplatz in Zuffenhausen wirkt auf den ersten Blick etwas verwahrlost oder lieblos. Ohne die bunten Blätter wäre es wohl noch öder. Alle Blumen sind entfernt worden, der Brunnen plätschert nicht mehr. Und fürs Draußensitzen ist es auch schon etwas zu kühl. Aber der Platz bietet dennoch einige Überraschungen und im Frühling werde ich zurückkehren, um eine Bestandsaufnahme zu machen.

The station forecourt in Zuffenhausen looks shabby or unkind at first sight. The colourful trees water this effect down. All flowers are removed, the fountain is deactivated and it is too coolish to sit outdoors. Nevertheless the place offers some surprises. I'll return in spring to take stock.

Es ist heiß in Stuttgart. Zum Glück gibt es hier viele Brunnen und Wasserspiele, die zu einer kleinen Erfrischung einladen. Diese Installation befindet sich in Zuffenhausen, gegenüber vom Rathaus. Die Kirche im Bild ist die evangelische Pauluskirche, davor ist das Eiscafe "Olivier".

It's hot in Stuttgart. Fortunately there are many fountains and water games which invite for a small refreshment. This installation is situated vis-à-vis the town-hall of Zuffenhausen. The pictured church is the Protestant Pauluskirche. The parlour named "Olivier" is situated in front of the church.

Traditionally Made In Zuffenhausen

Das Eiscafe "Olivier" in Zuffenhausen ist an sonnigen und warmen Tagen ein echter Anziehungspunkt. Hier gibt es seit 1959 nach eigenem Bekunden "hausgemachte und traditionelle Eisherstellung".

The ice cream parlor named "Olivier" in Zuffenhausen is really a hotspot on sunny and warm days. It advertises "home-made and traditional ice-making since 1959".

Nach einem Kinderarztbesuch wollte unser Sohn unbedingt ein Eis. Also gab es für ihn Schokoladeneis, für meine Frau Himbeereis und für mich ein "Nutella"-Eis. Ich kann nur sagen, einfach lecker!

Our son has asked for an ice after a consultation at his pediatrist. So he got chocolate ice cream, my wife has decided on raspberry ice cream and I've chosen a Nutella ice cream. Needless to say that they were yummy.

The Busy Zuffenhausen

Neben Rathaus, Bäumen und Brunnen befindet sich ein relativ neuer Kreisverkehr in Zuffenhausen, der ordentlich genutzt wird. Ich habe eine der wenigen Pausen genutzt, um dieses Foto zu machen.

There is a relatively new-built roundabout in Zuffenhausen next to town hall, trees and fountain. The roundabout is used well. To make this shot I had to wait for a traffic pause.
