Small Trees And New Buildings

Wo heute Wohnhäuser stehen, waren früher Messehallen. Und die Bäume werden hoffentlich ordentlich wachsen und genügend Schatten spenden an sonnigen Tagen. Der Höhenpark Killesberg ist gerade im Sommer ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel für Groß und Klein.

Exhibition halls have given way to apartement buildings. And the trees will hopefully grow tidy to be sources of shade on sunny days. The Höhenpark (altitude park?) Killesberg is a favoured destination for young and old just in the summer.

No Sign Needed?

Blick auf den Mozartplatz im Heusteigviertel. Ich konnte lediglich das obligatorische Straßenschild entdecken. Weitere Hinweise auf den berühmten österreichischen Musiker gibt es hier nicht.

View to the Mozartplatz which is situated in the Heusteigviertel. There is only the mandatory street sign. I couldn't find any other references to this famous Austrian musician.

A Mini-Stonehenge In Stuttgart?

Dieser "idyllische" Platz an der Neuen Weinsteige wirkt etwas deplatziert. Bänke gibt es hier keine mehr. Wer möchte hier auch, wo hunderte Autos am Tag vorbeibrettern, Platz nehmen und ausruhen?

This "idyllic" place at Neue Weinsteige seems rather out of place. There are no benches anymore. Would you like to take a rest at a street where hundreds of cars bomb down?

New Place In Town

Dieser neu gestaltete Platz trägt den Namen einer berühmten Fotografin, GERDA TARO.

This rebuilt place is named after a known photographer, GERDA TARO.

Wolf In The Bush

Nun wird klar, warum Wolfbusch so heisst wie es heisst. Im Hintergrund die kleine evangelische Kirche.

Now you can see why this quarter is called Wolfbusch. In the background there is the small Protestant church.

Once There Was A Pug

Die Mops-Statue am Eugensplatz zu Ehren des deutschen Humoristen Loriot. Loriot, eigentlich Bernhard-Viktor Christoph-Carl von Bülow, besuchte von 1938 bis 1941 das Eberhard-Ludwig-Gymnasium in Stuttgart. 

This statue, which is crowned with a pug, is situated at Eugensplatz. It was erected in honour of Mr. Bernhard-Viktor Christoph-Carl von Bülow aka LORIOT. Mr. Bülow was student of the Eberhard-Ludwig-Gymnasium in Stuttgart from 1938 to 1941.

Liselotte u. Manfred Rommel Platz, Vers. 8.0

Der Liselotte-und-Manfred-Rommel-Platz in S-Sillenbuch sah bis vor wenigen Tagen noch so aus. Der Baum war bestückt mit Tragetaschen.

These are photos from the unique Liselotte-und-Manfred-Rommel-Platz in Sillenbuch which were made a few days ago. The tree was fitted with carrying bags.

In Stuttgart werden leider zu viele Gebäude und Plätze nur ungenügend oder gar nicht gepflegt. Dieser Platz in Sillenbuch, zum Plauschen und Spielen geeignet, ist ein Beispiel dafür. Noch im Sommer letzten Jahres war er alles andere als einladend. Doch jetzt wird hier gebaut. Ich bin gespannt, was daraus wird.

There are too many buildings and places in Stuttgart which are insufficiently or not tended. This place is situated in Sillenbuch. It's good for cosy chats or kids' playing. In summer of last year the place was anything but welcoming. But now you can realize building activities. I'm curious about the result.

A Small Place But A Great Work Of Art

Der Danneckerplatz ist ziemlich klein. Dafür stehen hier aber auch gleich zwei Kunstwerke.

The Danneckerplatz is quite small. But there are two artworks on this place.

Kunstwerk #1 auf einer Litfasssäule / Artwork no.1 is situated on an advertising column

Kunstwerk #2 besteht aus zwei Figuren / Artwork no. 2 consists of two figures

Stuttgart's Staeffele #15: The Schickstaffel, Part 4

Nach weiteren 88 Stufen hat man den Danneckerplatz erreicht. Hier treffen sich gleich 3 Straßen - die Danneckerstraße, die Stitzenburgstraße und die Schickstraße.

After another 88 steps you're at Danneckerplatz. Three streets converge at this point - the Danneckerstraße, the Stitzenburgstraße and the Schickstraße.

Die Drachen hingen auch schon letztes Jahr an diesem Baum. Aber vielleicht nicht in der gleichen Anordnung.

You saw the kites hanging at that tree last year already. But I'm sure that their have an other formation.

Fountains Of Stuttgart, No. 000043 (Part One)

Neben der Kelter in S-Rohracker befindet sich dieser neugestaltete Platz. Als Gärtner betrübt mich, dass es hier keine Bäume gibt.

There ist this restyled place next to the "Kelter" building in Rohracker. As a gardener I'm saddened about the absence of trees.

Aber es gibt einen interessanten Brunnen, der etwas Erfrischung bietet.

But there is an interesting fountain which offers some refreshments.

Felix hat den Brunnen gleich in Beschlag genommen. Wasser zieht ihn magisch an. Morgen gibt es Details des Brunnens.

An Appropriate Setting?

Eingebettet zwischen Hochhäusern und der vielbefahrenen Olgastraße liegt in der Nähe des Olgaecks der Marie-Juchacz-Platz. 

The Marie-Juchacz-Platz is enclosed between high-rise buildings and a busy Olgastraße near the Olgaeck.
