A Special Fabrication In The Heusteigviertel

There is a special institution in the Heusteigviertel. It is called "Die Krimifabrik" (the crime thriller factory). But it isn't intrinsically a place of manufacturing. It is a theatre which is specialized in representations of thrillers.

Reserve And Openness

The small shop named "The English Tearoom" and the Weible's bakery make no fuss about themselves.
This shop offers model cars and railways, compact disks and much more. You can buy and sell your toys and aged records there. The big showcases request you to stop for beholding the wares.

Courts Or: Living And Working In The Heusteigviertel

Backyard impression from the Heusteigviertel. It's a building-and-building living. But the opened iron doorway goes outstandingly with the signboard above.

Stuttgart Doorways #19

There are many wonderful wooden front-doors and stony door cases in the Heusteigviertel. I've selected two examples for you.
Wooden doorway with stony lady. My favourite.
A doorway with kindly keepers.

A Little Bit Alpine Atmosphere

I can't help myself but this building reminds me of a typical alpine building. Unfortunately it was still to soon to deck out the wonderful wooden balcony with colourful flowers. This building is situated in a backyard and I wasn't able to view it at close range.

Trees And Buildings

The trees at Cottastraße and Immenhofer Straße are part of the Fangelsbachfriedhof. There are sometimes short ways in the Heusteigviertel.

The Lamp

I've noticed this lamp on a corner building. I think the lamp is pretentious, filigree and mysterious at the same time. What could be the importance of the pellet?

Treasures At 2nd View

Look the building. What do you notice about it?
I became attached to these filligree roofings. They have their own charm. Enjoy!

Diamonds In The Heusteigviertel

This building is one the eye-catchers in the Heusteigviertel. There is a coffeeshop in the ground floor. It is owned by a known bakery which is situated cater-cornered.
I like this light-coloured row of houses very much. There is also a small and cosy coffee shop in the ground floor of the corner building. The coffee is very good and the selection of pastries is manageable.

Fabrication In The Heusteigviertel

This building at Christophstraße and Mozartstraße has sheltered the publishing company named "Greiner & Pfeiffer".
A detailed shot from the building which was obviously renovated and spruced up.

Oases In The Heusteigviertel

Behind the wooden fence could lie quiet a small recreation oasis with trees, bushes and flowers. There could be some benches for the grown-ups and a sandbox for the kids too. I don't know anything about it because this private property was inaccessible for me.

Liselotte u. Manfred Rommel Platz, Vers. 3.0

It's been a long time now since I was in Sillenbuch. The Liselotte u. Manfred Rommel Platz was changed again. Now it looks like a Beltane place.

The Chokepoint

Some streets in the Heusteigviertel have chokepoints like the pictured one. They should be conducive to traffic calming in this busy quarter. The passage is forbidden on weekdays from 9:30 pm tp 6:30 am, on Sundays and on public holidays.

A Little Bit Austrian Atmosphere

View into the Mozartstraße
These two buildings have piqued my interest
The ornaments at the house walls are quite washed out. But they are anyhow beautiful. The eponym of this street is clearly visible. The sculpture looks neat as a pin.

Buildings In The Heusteigviertel

I show you two examples of the buildings from the threshold to the 20th century. The pharmacy named Mozart Apotheke is situated at Heusteigstraße and Immenhofer Straße. It looks like it has had its days. But the building is essentially still beautiful.

Education In The Heusteigviertel

This is the Heusteigschule at the Heusteigstraße. It is a Grundschule (elementary school) and a Werkrealschule (a special form of secondary modern school). The impressive building was built from 1904 to 1906 by architect Mr. Theodor Fischer.

The Golden Sign

The Swabian pretzel is an important and popular food. This golden sign of a bakery at the Theodor-Fischer-Platz in the Heusteigviertel invites to a stopover with a cup of coffee and a pretzel with butter.

The Markuskirche

This is the Protestant church named Markuskirche. It was built from 1906 to 1908 by the builder Heinrich Dolmetsch. I want to show this building from different perspectives.
View from the Filderstraße.
Views from the Römerstraße left and right of the Filderstraße.
View from the cemetery named Fangelsbachfriedhof. This place is one the important historic cemetery in Stuttgart. I'll make a special tour for you.

Living Conditions In The Heusteigviertel

This is one of the characteristical streets of the Heusteigviertel. It is characterized by thick building development and too little parking space for the cars. The most buildings in the Heusteigviertel were built at the turn of the 20th century. The pictured street is named Weißenburgstraße and it has even some trees and plantings.

Stuttgart Doorways #17

This handsome building is also situated at Olgastraße.
It has an impressive doorway.
I was amazed at these brawny men.

The Saint

We start our tour on Wilhelmsplatz. We go along the Wilhelmstraße to Olgastraße.
This building is situated at Olgastraße and it is an old people's home. It's strictly speaking not part of the Heusteigviertel but I want to show you the interesting wooden sculpture.

Overview

Today I want to invite you to a walk through a quarter named Heusteigviertel. But it is not easy to locate it. There are an historic quarter and an official one. I've decided to explore the historic place at first. It is delimited by Wilhelmstraße, Olgastraße, Filderstraße and Hauptstätter Straße. Please be cordially invited to accompany me. I hope it will be an informative walk. Let's go.
View to Wilhelmsplatz at Hauptstätter Straße (right) and Wilhelmstraße. The Wilhelmsplatz was unenlivened during making this shot.
Two hours later there was a demonstration against the S21 project. The participants have formed up for a protest march through the city centre.
The other end of the historic quarter is situated near Marienplatz in the South at Filderstraße and Hauptstätter Straße.

Art In The Killesberg Park, 2

If you walk down from the hill with its tower and along the small allotments you'll behold some mysterious objects around a small lake named Egelsee. I've selected two examples of these artworks.
This silver and glittering object and the Bülow-Tower match excellent, don't they?
Silver snakes? Laundry racks?
A view back.
