Four Buildings

Ich habe mich mal im Stadtteil Wolfbusch umgeschaut. Da sind mir diese vier, auf dem ersten Blick normale, Wohnhäuser aufgefallen.

I have looked around in the part of town named Wolfbusch. These four dwelling buildings caught my eyes this day. They look ordinarily at first sight.

Jedes dieser Gebäude hat eine besondere Fassadendekoration.

Each of these buildings has a special facade decoration.

Ego Ist In

EGO IST IN

So lautet der Name einer Bar in der Kronprinzenstraße. Auffällig ist auch der Kontrast zu den beiden Wolkenkratzern.

It's the name of a bar at Kronprinzenstraße. I couldn't find a translation for German phrase "in sein". I would try it as follows: EGO IS HIP. The contrast to the multistorey buildings is striking too.

That Building's Past

Während einer Kaffeepause ist mir dieses Gebäude mit seiner Inschrift aufgefallen. Kaum zu glauben, dass hier mal Gaszähler produziert wurden.

While making a coffee break I've noticed this building and its inscription. Hard to believe that it was a manufacturing plant for gas meters.

A Building Without Rough Edges

At Danneckerstraße

Blick nach rechts und links in die Danneckerstraße. Auf der einen Seite sieht man herrliche alte Häuser, links überwiegen die Neubauten. Ein Gebäude allerdings hat eine Besonderheit....

Fenster und Dach sind sonderbar gestaltet.

At Alexanderstraße

Früher wurden hier Brezeln und andere Backwaren verkauft. Heute blicken uns ernste Gesichter an.

There were pretzels and other bakery products offered in former times. Now serious faces look at us.

Dieses Gebäude wird meiner Ansicht nach sowohl als Geschäftsgebäude als auch als Wohngebäude genutzt. Die Uhr zeigt die richtige Uhrzeit an. Welchen Blick man wohl vom Turm hat?

In my opinion this building is used for residential and business purposes. The clock keeps time correctly. I wonder about the lookout from the tower.

Help The Poor Nugget

Von weitem wirkt das Verwaltungsgebäude der Firma Lauster imposant. Lauster war eine von 3 Unternehmen in Stuttgart, die hier Travertin abgebaut und verarbeitet haben.

From a distance the headquarters of the Lauster company looks impressive. The Lauster company was one of three enterprises in Stuttgart which have mined and worked travertine.

Bei näherem Hinsehen ist aber leider Verfall zu bemerken. Schade eigentlich, wo doch das Gebäude als Kulturdenkmal eingestuft wurde. Geht man so mit Denkmälern um? Ach, Stuttgart...

On closer inspection you sadly could notice dilapidation. What a bummer! This building is categorized as a cultural monument. Does one handle monuments in this way? Oh Stuttgart...

Der Rohbau des "Palais am Reitweg" wächst langsam aber sicher. 

The bare brickwork of the "Palais am Reitweg" (palace at Reitweg) grows slowly but surely.

Comital

Nein, das Gebäude oder die merkwürdig zurechtgestutzten Bäume in der Nesenbachstraße haben nichts Gräfliches an sich. Aber im Erdgeschoss dieses Gebäudes befindet sich das Café "Graf Eberhard". Und fürstlich frühstücken kann man hier, wenn man will. Ich hab's getan...

No. This building or the strangely trimed trees at Nesenbachstraße don't look comital. But there is the café and restaurant named "Graf Eberhard" in the ground floor. You could breakfast baronial there if you want. I've done it...

Vis-A-Vis

Zwei Eckhäuser, die unterschiedlicher nicht sein können. Das eine mit schmiedeeisernem Balkon, warmer Fassade und einem gekrönten Türmle. Das andere futuristisch aus Glas, Stahl und Beton. Ersteres befindet sich an der Ecke Königstraße/Fritz-Elsas-Straße, das andere an der Ecke Tübinger Straße/Eberhardstraße. Beide Gebäude stehen sich dennoch gegenüber.

Two corner buildings which can't be more different. The first one has a warm frontage, a wrought-iron balcony and a crowned spire. The socond one looks like futuristic and is made from glass, steel and concrete. The old building is situated at Königstraße and Fritz-Elsas-Straße, the new one at Tübinger Straße and Eberhardstraße. Nevertheless these two buildings are vis-à-vis each other.

Lo And Behold!

Das Eckgebäude an der Hohenheimer Straße hat nicht nur eine besondere Fensterdekoration (zu sehen in meinem neuen Header). Die Stitzenburg-Apotheke rühmt sich, einer der schönsten alten Apotheken Stuttgart's zu sein. Der Name Stitzenburg kommt übrigens von Christian Friedrich Stitz, der in dieser Gegend ein Lokal namens "Stitzenburg" hatte.

The corner building at Hohenheimer Straße hasn't only a peculiar window dressing (you can see it on my new header). The pharmacy named Stitzenburg Apotheke prides itself to be one of the most beautiful old pharmacies in Stuttgart. Stitzenburg comes from Christian Friedrich Stitz. Mr. Stitz has owned a tavern named "Stitzenburg" in this area.

ROT - RED - ROUGE

Das Bürgerhaus in Rot hat sich den passenden Anstrich verpassen lassen...
The community centre in Rot has gotten an apposite coat of paint...

View From Bastion Leibfried, 1

Die Bastion Leibfried bietet wirklich eine herrliche Aussicht. Ich könnte hier zig Fotos zeigen, aber das wäre wohl zu viel des Guten. Auf diesem Foto ist das imposante Polizeipräsidium in der Hahnemannstraße zu sehen. Nicht weniger sehenswert sind die daneben erbauten Wohnhäuser. Es muss sehr angenehm sein, in dieser idyllischen Lage arbeiten und wohnen zu dürfen.

The Leibfried bastion offers really a wonderful view. I could show you umpteen photos, but it could be seen as too much of a good thing. On today's photo you can see the police headquarters at Hahnemannstraße. The alongside built apartement buildings are well worth seeing too. It must be delightful to work and live in this idyllic location.

The House On The Rock

Dieses Haus auf dem Felsen, gleich gegenüber vom Kraftwerk Münster, wirkt wie eine Requisite für einen Hitchcock-Film. Ob Sir Alfred tatsächlich hier einen Film gedreht hat, konnte nicht in Erfahrung gebracht werden.

This house on the rock near the Power house of Münster looks like a prop for a movie directed by Mr. Hitchcock. I wasn't able to find out if Sir Alfred has really shot a movie here.

Outstanding Plants

Das Gebäude der Celesio AG in der Neckartalstraße in Bad Cannstatt ist an sich nichts besonderes. Auffallend ist aber das viele Grün drumherum.

This building of the Celesio incorporated company at the Neckartalstraße in Bad Cannstatt isn't worth to write about. But I've noticed the greenery around it.

Dieser ungewöhnliche Baum ist mir besonders aufgefallen.

This unusual tree has particularly caught my eye.

A Bonnie Place For A Special Museum

In diesem ehemaligen Fabrikgebäude in S-Münster befindet sich das Feuerwehrmuseum. Über einen Besuch dort werde ich natürlich ausführlichst berichten.

The fire brigade museum is housed in this former industrial building in Münster. I'll report in detail on a visit there in due time.

Startling Details Of Yesterday's Building

Diese Verzierungen hauchen dem Gebäude etwas Leben ein.

These ornaments breathe a spot of life into this building.

Why I Show You This Building?

Dieses Gebäude ist an sich nichts Besonderes, Beton und Glas eben. Ich selbst würde es sogar als grottenhäßlich bezeichnen. Aber es hat etwas an sich, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes.

This building is nothing to write home about. It's built up of concrete and glass. I would name it as a pug-ugly house. But there is something special about it.
