At The Farm

Unterhalb des Robert-Bosch-Krankenhauses (RBK) liegt die "Gaststätte Distelfarm". Hier waren wir gestern zum Mittagessen.

There is the restaurant named "Distelfarm" underneath the Robert-Bosch-Krankenhaus. It was our yesterday's place for lunch.

Von der großzügig angelegten Terrasse hat man einen herrlichen Ausblick. Natürlich waren wir hauptsächlich zum Essen hier. Besonders zu empfehlen ist der Zwiebelrostbraten.

You will have a great view from the large terrace. But primarily we wanted to enjoy our meal and we weren't disappointed. We would recommend the "Zwiebelrostbraten" to you.

A Visit To A Museum Again

Nach langer Zeit waren wir mal wieder in einem Museum. Vor unserer Abfahrt mit der Oldtimer-Linie 23 sind wir noch durch die Straßenbahnwelt geschlendert. Wer sich für die Geschichte der Straßenbahn in und um Stuttgart interessiert, sollte hier unbedingt vorbeischauen.

We were in a museum again for the first time after a long period. To use the waiting time meaningfully till the departure of the veteran line 23 we've visited the "Straßenbahnwelt". If you're interested in the history of the tram in and around Stuttgart you've to visit absolutely this interesting exhibition.

From Bad Cannstatt To Ruhbank

Die Oldtimer-Linie 21 verlässt die Straßenbahnwelt. Sie fährt über Staatsgalerie, Berliner Platz und Hauptbahnhof wieder zurück zum Ausgangspunkt. Es ist die kürzere Strecke.

The line 21 of the vintage train leaves the Straßenbahnwelt in Bad Cannstatt. This train will go to Staatsgalerie, Berliner Platz and Hauptbahnhof. It's the shortest drive.

Wir aber fuhren mit der Linie 23 zum Fernsehturm. Diese große Route führt über Pragfriedhof, Charlottenplatz und Bubenbad. 

We've take the line 23 to the TV tower. This train goes to Pragfriedhof, Charlottenplatz and Bubenbad.

Onwards To The Wasen

Heute beginnt das 167. Cannstatter Volksfest. Bis zum 14. Oktober dauert die Gaudi. Am Eingang zum Wasen befindet sich traditionell der Krämermarkt. Hier können Haushaltsartikel, Kräuter und Gewürze und allerlei mehr erstanden werden.

The 167th Cannstatt Folk Festival begins today. The jamboree will take until October, 14th. There is usually the flea market at the entrance to the Wasen. Here you can buy household articles, herbs and spicery and even more helpful things.

Stuttgart's Staeffele #10: New And Lighted

Dieses Stäffele nahe des Kraftwerkes Münster wurde erst vor kurzem fertiggestellt. Kerzengerade geht es 160 Stufen nach oben. In der dunklen Jahreszeit spenden die Lampen sicherlich ordentlich Licht.

These steps near the Münster power station were completed recently. The Stäffele goes up straightly with 160 steps. The numerous lamps will give light duly on the dark season.

Outstanding Plants

Das Gebäude der Celesio AG in der Neckartalstraße in Bad Cannstatt ist an sich nichts besonderes. Auffallend ist aber das viele Grün drumherum.

This building of the Celesio incorporated company at the Neckartalstraße in Bad Cannstatt isn't worth to write about. But I've noticed the greenery around it.

Dieser ungewöhnliche Baum ist mir besonders aufgefallen.

This unusual tree has particularly caught my eye.

The Green Frame

Blick von einem Stäffele an der Altenburger Steige durch Bäume und Sträucher. So erhält das Bild quasi einen grünen Rahmen. Der Bus im Bild hat mich dann nach Hause gebracht.

A Busy Serpentine Street

Diese verkehrsreiche Straße ist die Altenburger Steige. Sie führt von der Neckarvorstadt in weiten Bogen zum Hallschlag hinauf.

This busy street is named Altenburger Steige. It leads up in wide curves from Neckarvorstadt to Hallschlag. The two are parts of Bad Cannstatt.

Refreshment For Body And Soul

Obwohl die Kirche St. Martin eine katholische Kirche ist, war mir der Zugang verwehrt. Zu gern hätte ich mich im Innern dieses kleinen Kirchleins umgesehen. So hatte ich dann aber auch keine Lust (und auch keine Zeit) mehr zu einer Einkehr ins "Jägerstüble".

On the right there is the Catholic church named St. Martin. Unfortunately the entrance remained locked for me. I wanted to see the inside of this lovely small church. Therefore I had no mind to stop for a bite to drink in the tavern named "Jägerstüble".

Shadows

Etwas Licht und viel Schatten am späten Nachmittag in der Brückenstraße in Bad Cannstatt. In dem hübschen weißen Haus ist ein Studentenwohnheim untergebracht.

Why I Show You This Building?

Dieses Gebäude ist an sich nichts Besonderes, Beton und Glas eben. Ich selbst würde es sogar als grottenhäßlich bezeichnen. Aber es hat etwas an sich, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes.

This building is nothing to write home about. It's built up of concrete and glass. I would name it as a pug-ugly house. But there is something special about it.

Ich denke, das wird nicht notwendig sein. So eng ist die Gasse doch nicht.

I think that will not be necessary. The lane isn't really tight.

Fountains Of Stuttgart, No. 000024

Das ist der Erbsenbrunnen vor der Einmündung zur Erbsenbrunnengasse. Auf einem Schild steht zur Herkunft des Brunnen-Namens geschrieben, dass hier das einzige Süßwasser der Stadt sprudelte, welches zum Einweichen getrockneter Erbsen geeignet war.

This is the Erbsenbrunnen (pea's fountain). It is situated in front of the branch to the Erbsenbrunnengasse. On a plate you can read that this fountain has given the only sweet water in the city. Therefore this water was most suitable for soaking of dried peas.

It Was Hard To Find An Ideal Position

Das ist die evangelische Stadtkirche von Bad Cannstatt. Sie wurde von 1471 bis 1506 von Aberlin Joerg erbaut. Der Turm kam später hinzu, er wurde von 1612 - 1618 von Heinrich Schickhardt errichtet. Zwei Erneuerungen hat die Kirche erfahren, von 1858 - 1905 und von 1962 - 1968.

This is the Protestant parish church of Bad Cannstatt. It was built from 1471 to 1506 by Aberlin Joerg. Mr. Joerg was the most important architect and master builder of the late Gothic church building of the 15th century. The spire was built later from 1612 to 1618 by Heinrich Schickhardt. There were 2 renovations from 1858 to 1905 and from 1962 to 1968.
