Etwas enttäuscht war ich schon. Ich dachte, diese besondere Wohnhaus wäre fertig! Hoffentlich lohnt sich das Warten.

Yes, I was disappointed a bit. I thought that unique apartment house would be completed. Hopefully the waiting pays.

The Modern Building In An Old Appearance Grows And Grows

So sah das Gebäude am vergangenen Sonntag in der Johannes- Ecke Breitscheidstraße im Stuttgarter Westen  aus.

Last Sunday in the Western Stuttgart. This was the status of the building at Johannesstraße and Breitscheidstraße.

Der Rohbau des "Palais am Reitweg" wächst langsam aber sicher. 

The bare brickwork of the "Palais am Reitweg" (palace at Reitweg) grows slowly but surely.

Der Rohbau an der Ecke Johannesstraße und Breitscheidstraße wächst in die Höhe. Das Erdgeschoss ist fertig, die 1. Etage ist in Arbeit.

The skeleton on Johannesstraße and Breitscheidstraße rockets high. The ground floor is completed, the first floor is under construction.

Das Eckhaus ist nun abgerissen. Eine riesige Lücke mit Baugrube wartet nun darauf, wie vorgesehen bebaut zu werden.

The old corner house is demolished now. A vast gap with a building pit are awaiting the construction as planned.

The Long Way To The Church

Schnurstracks geradeaus geht es auf der Johannesstraße auf die evangelische Johanneskirche am Feuersee zu.

The Johannesstraße goes directly to the Protestant church named Johanneskirche. The church is situated at the Feuersee.

Eine imposante Kirche. Aber irgendwie habe ich auch hier den Eindruck, man könnte den Turm noch vollenden.

It's an impressive church. Here I'm also struck that the tower waits for its finishing.

Welcome To Stuttgart's Parlour

Wohnzimmer - so lautet der Name eines Restaurants in der Schloßstraße in S-West. Ich werde es mir mal irgendwann dort gemütlich machen.

Wohnzimmer (living room, parlour) is the name of a restaurant which is situated at Schlossstraße in the West of Stuttgart. I will ensconce myself in it someday.

1890 trifft 2020. Dieses Eckhaus soll abgerissen werden und Platz machen für einen Neubau. Hier soll aber kein gesichtsloses Glas-Beton-Monstrum entstehen, sondern ein ultramodernes Wohngebäude im historischen Gewand. SDP wird die Bauarbeiten von Zeit zu Zeit dokumentieren.

1890 meets 2020. This corner house is due to demolish to give way to a new building. A housebuilder will realize an ultramodern housing development in a historical makeup instead of a faceless glass-and-concrete monstrosity. SDP will document the construction works once in a while.

Im Stuttgarter Westen steht dieses farbenfrohe Haus. Es müssen dort fröhliche Menschen wohnen oder arbeiten.

This colourful house is situated in the West of Stuttgart. Happy people must live or work in it.

Soho Is In Stuttgart

Das Café "Soho" in der Schwabstraße im Westen Stuttgarts. Sobald es mir möglich ist, werde ich auch mal reingehen. Inzwischen muss dieses Foto genügen.

The coffee bar "Soho". It is situated on Schwabstraße in the Western Stuttgart. If it is possible I'll go in. In the meantime this shot has to go.

Church In Winterly Sunset

Die katholische Elisabethenkirche am Bismarckplatz im Westen Stuttgarts an einem kalten Januarabend.

The Catholic church named "Elisabethenkirche" at Bismarckplatz in the Western Stuttgart. The photo was made in a cold January evening.

Mr. Fischer's View

Steht man hinter der Skulptur von J. G. Fischer, hat man diesen herrlichen Ausblick die Hasenbergsteige hinunter Richtung Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Platz. Links und rechts von diesem Grünstreifen (momentan ist er  eher weiß) stehen z. T. sehr schöne Häuser. Hier gibt es mehr Informationen dazu.

This is the amazing view of Mr. Fischer down the "Hasenbergsteige" in the direction to a place named "Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Platz". There are some beautiful old buildings to the left and to the right of the green corridor which is white in the moment. Please follow the above 2nd link to get more informations (in German only).

Keep Cool Mr. Fischer!

Das ist die Skulptur von J. G. Fischer an der Hasenbergsteige im Stuttgarter Westen. Der Hasenberg gehört zu den erstklassigen Wohnlagen von Stuttgart. Von Heslach kommend, laufe ich hier gerne spazieren.

This is the sculpture of J. G. Fischer, a German poet and playwright who lived from 1816 to 1897. It is situated on a street named Hasenbergsteige in the Western part of Stuttgart. The "Hasenberg" is one of the top addresses in Stuttgart. Coming from Heslach I enjoy to walk here.

I Was Above Such Thing

Diesen Blick hat man, wenn man über dem Schwabtunnel, der den westlichen mit dem südlichen Stadtteil (oder umgekehrt) verbindet, steht.

This is the view you get if you stand above the "Schwabtunnel". This is the tunnel which connects the Western with the Southern part of Stuttgart.

Der Name des Tunnels kommt wohl von Gustav Schwab, von dem es eine Büste an einem Haus gibt, das gleich rechts neben dem oben abgebildeten Stäffele steht.

The name of the tunnel comes possibly from Gustav Schwab. There is a bust on a building which is situated right of the above pictured steps.

Green Street, No Green Street

Zwei (Parallel-)Straßen im Stuttgarter Westen, die unterschiedlicher nicht sein können. Die eine ist eine wunderschöne Allee, mit Bäumen auf beiden Seiten. Die andere hat leider gar nichts Lebendiges an sich.

You see two parallel streets in the western part of Stuttgart which can't be more different. The one is a wonderful alley with trees at both sides. The other offers nothing that is alive.

Viva Vital

Ich kenne den Baguette Service vom "Vital Lunch" leider nicht, aber das Fahrzeug ist auf jeden Fall Klasse. Mal sehen, ob ich den "S VL 1" auch noch erwische.

I don't know the service of "Vital Lunch" but that car looks great. I hope I can also shoot the number 1.

Taking A Breather

Normalerweise ist diese Kreuzung am Berliner Platz viel belebter. Zum einen habe ich gewartet, bis weniger los ist und zum anderen sind Ferien und das ist verkehrstechnisch auch spürbar. Hier treffen sich vier Stadtbahnlinien (U2 Hölderlinplatz-Neugereut, U4 Botnang-Untertürkheim, U9 Botnang-Hedelfingen und U14 Heslach-Remseck), natürlich gut aufeinander abgestimmt.

Normally it is a busy crossroad. First it is holiday time and there are less people and vehicles on the roads. And second I've waited for a pause. There are four tram routes and they are well coordinated.

Attention! Culture

Ich habe mit meiner Frau in der Liederhalle am Berliner Platz schon einige angenehme Stunden bei diversen Veranstaltungen verbracht. Dieses Haus bietet das ganze Jahr Konzerte, Tanzveranstaltungen aber auch Kongresse oder Messen. Ein Besuch lohnt sich wirklich.

View to the Liederhalle at Berliner Platz, a place where my wife and me have spent wonderful hours. This house offers concerts, dances but also conventions and exhibitions. I can recommend you a visit there.
