Coffee, Cake And Symbols

Im Selbstbedienungscafé der Bäckerei Siegel an der Haltestelle Tappachstraße in S-Rot gibt es neben lecker Kaffee und Kuchen auch die gestern vorgestellten neuen Symbole.

This is the house with the new symbols which I've presented in yesterday's post. It's the self-service coffeehouse of the Siegel bakery at the station Tappachstraße in Rot. Here you get tasty coffee and delicious cakes.

New Symbols

Schluss mit dem Venussysmbol, dem Symbol der Weiblichkeit und Schluss mit dem Marssymbol, dem Symbol der Männlichkeit. Nudelholz und Schraubenschlüssel übernehmen. Morgen zeige ich, wo diese neuen Symbole bereits eingesetzt werden.

There's an end with Venus symbol for femininity and Mars symbol for masculinity. Rolling pin and crew-wrench succeed. Tomorrow I'll show you where the new symbols are installed.

Ye Oldies

Dieser wunderschöne Oldtimer stand vor dem Mineralbad Berg in Stuttgart-Ost, das ebenfalls schon recht betagt ist. Den Fahrer des Mercedes konnte ich leider nicht ermitteln.

This wonderful classic car was standing in front of the thermal and hydromineral establishment named Mineralbad Berg in Ost. The building is well along in years too. The owner of the car was unascertainable.

Hier der Mercedes noch einmal in seiner ganzen Pracht. Es handelt sich hierbei um einen "Mercedes-Benz 220 Ponton Cabrio".

Inside The Cheese Church

In der Auferstehungskirche in Rot. Blick auf Altar und Kreuz.

You're in the Auferstehungskirche (resurrection church) in Rot. View to the Lord's table and the rood.

Meine Frau hat in der U-Bahn gehört, wie einige Kinder die Kirche als "Käse-Kirche" bezeichnet haben. Die runden Fenster vermitteln von außen aber auch diesen Eindruck. Innen werfen sie das Licht auf die Bänke.

My wife has heard that children in the city railway have named the church as "cheese church" because of its round windows. Inside the church the coloured windows throw light to the pews.

The Eye-Catching Church

Das ist die evangelische Auferstehungskirche in S-Rot an der Haldenrainstraße. Ihre runden Fenster sind sehr auffällig.

This is the Protestant church named "Auferstehungskirche" (resurrection church) in Rot at Haldenrainstraße. The round windows look like bull's-eyes and they're very eye-catching.

Stuttgarter Hof

Blick auf das Wangener Gasthaus "Stuttgarter Hof". Es inspirierte mich zu meiner neuen Kopfzeile.

Where Do These Tracks Go To?

Blick Richtung Himmelsleiter. Man muss höllisch aufpassen, wegen der Stadtbahn. Gestern gab es wieder einen Personenschaden an der Haltestelle Schozacher Straße.

View to Himmelsleiter. You have to watch out bloody good because of the city railway. Yesterday there was an accident involving physical injury at station Schozacher Straße.

In The Travertine Park

Noch heute weisen Bauwerke, wie diese Beladestation, oder Schienenfragmente auf die Abbautätigkeiten im Travertinpark hin. Man hat sie an Ort und Stelle belassen und sie in den Park integriert.

Constructions like this loading facility or rack fragments testify to the mining in today's travertine park. Now they're part of this beautiful park.

Let's Talk About ...

Dieses "Trio" habe ich in S-Rot entdeckt. Interessanterweise steht diese Skulptur nicht auf einem öffentlichen Platz, sondern auf einem Grundstück für Wohnhäuser. Sie wurde nach dem Werk "Der Ackermann aus Böhmen" von Johannes von Tepl erschafft.

I found this "trio" in Rot, a district in the north of Stuttgart. This sculpture isn't situated on public property but on private with apartement houses. It is modelled on the tale named "The Ploughman From Bohemia" from Johannes von Tepl.

The Pillars Of Münster

Das sind die Travertin-Säulen in Münster, zwischen den beiden, über die Straße führenden Teile des Kraftwerkes. Es wird immer noch Travertin abgebaut. Im nahegelegenen Travertinpark gibt es keinen Abbau mehr, hier darf sich die Natur ihr Terrain zurückerobern.

The pictured pillars are made of travertine. They are situated between two elements of the powerhouse. Travertine is still mined here. In the nearby travertine park mining is over. The nature captures back the ground.

Ein kleines Gebäude, vielleicht ein Trafo-Häuschen, an der Neckartalstraße in S-Münster ...

... mit viel Platz für "Kunst" oder so ...

... with a lot of room for "art" or something like that ...

... und für tollkühne Aussagen, zu denen man stehen kann, wie man will.

... and for foolhardy theses ("love is for free"), which are worth serious discussions.

Differences

Im Vordergrund sind Weinreben und ein angenehmer Wanderweg zu sehen, die sich im sogenannten Travertinpark in S-Bad Cannstatt befinden. In diesem Gebiet wurde und wird der Cannstatter Travertin abgebaut. Im Hintergrund ist das Kraftwerk Münster zu sehen.

In the foreground you see vines and a kindly trail which are situated in a park named Travertinpark in Bad Cannstatt. Calc-sinter or travertine is still mined here. In the background there is the powerhouse of Münster.

June 2011 Theme Day: Under Construction

Heute stellen sich die CDP-Blogger dem Thema "Under Construction", also "im Bau befindlich".

The CDPB theme for June 1st is "Under Construction".

Das ist eine von vielen Baustellen in Stuttgart, die das Aussehen der Stadt nachhaltig ändern. Hier war ich in der Lautenschlagerstraße in Stuttgarts Mitte, wo ein neues Glas-Stahl-Beton-Konstrukt entsteht.

This is one of the numberless building lots in Stuttgart. I fear that they will strongly change the appearance of the city. This photo was made at Lautenschlagerstraße in the city centre where a new building made of glass, steel and concrete is aborning.
