Das ist der "Hans-im-Glück-Brunnen" in der Altstadt von Stuttgart. Leider war er schon nicht mehr im Betrieb, dennoch möchte ich ihn zeigen. Das schöne Wetter musste einfach genutzt werden. Der Brunnen wurde 1909 erschaffen und erzählt das gleichnamige Märchen der Gebrüder Grimm anhand von 6 Bronzemedaillons, welche sich in dem schmiedeeisernen Baldachin befinden.

This is the fountain named "Hans-im-Glück-Brunnen" (Hans in Luck fountain) and it is situated in the old part of Stuttgart. Unfortunately the fountain was idle but I had to use the wonderful weather for taking my photos. The fountain was created in 1909 and it shows the fairy tale of the same title of the Brothers Grimm using 6 bronze medallions which are worked in the wrought-iron canopy.

November 2011 Theme Day: Fences

Für das heutige Thema - Zäune, Schranken, Gitter - bin ich richtig dankbar. Denn der wohl berühmteste Zaun Baden-Württembergs, wenn nicht sogar Deutschlands, steht in Stuttgart am Hauptbahnhof. Hier wird der Widerstand gegen Stuttgart21 und der Zorn auf die Art und Weise, wie das Projekt realisiert wird, in Wort und Bild und in sehr kreativer Weise umgesetzt. Und dieser Zaun ist schon die 2. Auflage. Version 1 befindet sich im Haus der Geschichte Baden-Württemberg.

I really appreciate the today's theme. The most famous fence of the federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg is currently situated at the main station of Stuttgart. This fence is also known outside Baden-Wuerttemberg. It is location for the resistance to the S21 project and its realization. People have fixed pictures, text documentations and other self-made and creative things. This fence is already the 2nd edition. The 1st edition can be visited in a museum named Haus der Geschichte Baden-Wuerttemberg (House of History Baden-Wuerttemberg).

Fountains Of Stuttgart, No. 000021

Dieser Brunnen führt sein Schattendasein neben Stiftskirche und Fruchtkasten unweit der Königstraße.

This fountain lives its shadow existence next to Stiftskirche and Fruchtkasten not far from famous shopping street Königstraße.

Autumn In Stuttgart, 1

Zahlreiche Bänke laden auf dieser kleinen Allee am Schlossplatz bei schönstem Herbstwetter zum Verweilen ein.

There are numerous benches on this small boulevard at the Schlossplatz. They invite you to enjoy this wonderful sunny autumn weather.

Concord

Das ist die Jubiläumssäule auf dem Schlossplatz. Sie ist etwa 30 Meter hoch und wurde 1841 errichtet. Ganz oben befindet sich eine Skulptur der Göttin Concordia.

This is the jubilee column at the Schlossplatz. It is around 30 metres high and was built in 1841. There is a sculpture of the concord goddess named Concordia at the top of the column.

You see some details of the socle. The column was built due to the 25th governmental anniversary of King William the First.

Wir sind noch immer auf dem Schlossplatz und schauen zum Neuen Schloss. Bemerkenswert sind aber auch die imposanten Brunnen und die Säule. Aufgenommen wurde das Photo von den Treppen des Königsbaus. Und, lieber Leif aus Eagan, hier gibt es jede Menge Konditoreien und Cafés.

We're still at the Schlossplatz and have a look at the New Palace (Neues Schloss). The impressive fountains and the column are remarkable too. The photo was made from the stair of the Königsbau. Dear Leif from Eagan, there are many confectioneries and coffee shops.

The New Palace (Neues Schloss) in the daytime and in the late evening. I overdid a little bit using the term "night" in my today's title.

Welcome To Stuttgart's Parlour

Wohnzimmer - so lautet der Name eines Restaurants in der Schloßstraße in S-West. Ich werde es mir mal irgendwann dort gemütlich machen.

Wohnzimmer (living room, parlour) is the name of a restaurant which is situated at Schlossstraße in the West of Stuttgart. I will ensconce myself in it someday.

1890 trifft 2020. Dieses Eckhaus soll abgerissen werden und Platz machen für einen Neubau. Hier soll aber kein gesichtsloses Glas-Beton-Monstrum entstehen, sondern ein ultramodernes Wohngebäude im historischen Gewand. SDP wird die Bauarbeiten von Zeit zu Zeit dokumentieren.

1890 meets 2020. This corner house is due to demolish to give way to a new building. A housebuilder will realize an ultramodern housing development in a historical makeup instead of a faceless glass-and-concrete monstrosity. SDP will document the construction works once in a while.

Needless to say that these are photos from different poles. If they are telephone poles then they could tell us quite a number of interesting news. I'm sure that they are bound to professional discretion.

Es hat sich was getan am "Liselotte u. Manfred Rommel Platz" in Alt-Sillenbuch. Wer hat die Veränderung entdeckt? 

There was a changing at the "Liselotte u. Manfred Rommel Platz" in the old part of Sillenbuch. Have you already noticed it?

Nun, ich will niemanden auf die Folter spannen. Aus dem "Flaschenbaum" wurde ein herbstlicher "Drachenbaum".

Well! I don't want tantalize you. The bottle's tree has changed to a autumn kite's tree.

SDP On The Way: Heuchelberg

Der diesjährige Altherrenausflug am 16. Oktober führte uns nach Schwaigern am Heuchelberg. Eine Wanderung bei herrlichem Wetter war eines der Höhepunkte dieses Ausfluges.

This year's trip of the elder gentlemen on October 16th went to Schwaigern at the Heuchelberg. A walking-tour in magnificent weather was one of the highlights of this day.

Nach der Wanderung war eine Stärkung angebracht. Deftiges Essen und natürlich Wein wurden kredenzt.

After the hike through the vineyards we needed a refreshment. Hearty food and wine were thereupon served.

Die Besenwirtschaft der Familie Kümmerles ist gemütlich eingerichtet. Stetten, ein Teilort von Schwaigern, besitzt mehrere wunderschöne Fachwerkhäuser.

The inn of the Kümmerles family is furnished cosily. Stetten is a part of Schwaigern and it has many wonderful timbered houses.

Big Markets

Dort, wo zur Zeit noch der Wochenmarkt abgehalten wird, wird sich ab dem 23. November der Weihnachtsmarkt befinden. Das erste (zusammengesetzte) Photo zeigt den Schillerplatz und den Rathausplatz. Das zweite Photo ist ein Panaorama vom Rathausplatz.

Farmer's market takes place at Schillerplatz (first shot) and Rathausplatz (2nd and 3rd shot) at the moment. But there will be the Christmas market from 2011-11-23.

Das ist der Sparkassenbrunnen in der Stiftstraße. 1919 wurde er erbaut, in den Kriegsjahren zerstört und 1955 in anderer Form neu erschaffen. "Die knieende Frauenskulptur mit Trauben in den Händen symbolisiert Erntedank". Die Inschrift lautet: ERNTE WAECHST NUR WO GESAET. DRUM SPAR' EH' ES ZU SPAET. Der Spruch soll auf die schwäbische Tugend der Sparsamkeit hinweisen.

This is the fountain named "Sparkassenbrunnen" at the Stiftstraße in the centre. It was built in 1919, destroyed during the WWII and rebuilt in a different form in 1955. The kneeling women who holds grapes in her hands should symbolize Thanksgiving/Harvest Festival. The inscription could be translated as follows: You only can harvest if you have sowed; therefore you should economize before it is too late. The sentence refers to the Swabian grace of thriftiness.

A Unique Place

Der "Liselotte u. Manfred Rommel Platz" in Alt-Sillenbuch ist ein ganz besonderer Platz. Zum einen ist das geschnitzte Schild schon ein Kunstwerk für sich. Dann fällt aber auch der "Flaschenbaum" mit seinen Vogelhäuschen auf. Eine Bank lädt zum Verweilen oder zu einem kleinen Schwatz ein.

This place named "Liselotte u. Manfred Rommel Platz" is situated in the old part of Sillenbuch. It is really a unique place. At first the carved plate is an artwork of its own. But the bottle tree with its birdhouses is an eye-catcher too. A bench invites you to stay or to chat.
