February 2015 Theme Day: What Would I Miss Most

Ohne Frage. Ich würde meinen Garten am allermeisten vermissen.

There's no doubt that I would miss my garden.

Dieser Brunnen steht in S-Rohracker. Irgendjemand hat ihm etwas Buntes zum Anziehen gestrickt.

This fountain is situated in Rohracker. Somebody has knit colourful clothes for it.

A Small But Intimate Place

Es ist wieder Zeit für Advents- und Weihnachtsmärkte. Ich habe meine Tour durch die Märkte mit einem Besuch in S-Rohracker gestartet. Hier präsentierten örtliche Vereine und Schulen handwerkliche Arbeiten sowie Essen und Trinken. Nachfolgend ein paar Eindrücke.

It's time again for Advent and Christmas markets. I've started my tour through the markets with a short visit in Rohracker. Local associations and schools have presented their self-made products but also food and drinks. You can see some impressions below.

Fountains Of Stuttgart, No. 000043 (Part Two)

Der Wasserspender im Ganzen. Man erkennt, dass dieser Brunnen etwas mit Wein zu tun hat. Die Kelter ist ja gleich nebenan. Das Wasser sollte man besser nicht trinken (Kein Trinkwasser).

The waterspout in full. Have you noticed the wine glass? The Kelter (wine press) building is even next door. You shouldn't drink the water from the fountain (No Drinking Water).

Neben der Kelter in S-Rohracker befindet sich dieser neugestaltete Platz. Als Gärtner betrübt mich, dass es hier keine Bäume gibt.

There ist this restyled place next to the "Kelter" building in Rohracker. As a gardener I'm saddened about the absence of trees.

Aber es gibt einen interessanten Brunnen, der etwas Erfrischung bietet.

But there is an interesting fountain which offers some refreshments.

Felix hat den Brunnen gleich in Beschlag genommen. Wasser zieht ihn magisch an. Morgen gibt es Details des Brunnens.

Felix has engrossed it immediately. Water is like a magnet for Felix. Tomorrow I'll show you some details of the fountain.

Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Wine, But Were Afraid To Ask

Die Kelter in Rohracker. Die "Weingärtnergenossenschaft Rohracker e.G." verkauft hier ihre Weine, in dem Gebäude finden aber auch diverse Feierlichkeiten statt.

The wine press house in Rohracker. The vine dresser's association of Rohracker sells their wines here. The building is also used for many festivities all about wine. There are the spring winetasting on April, 9th and the installation of the Maypole on April, 29th. You can participate in the annual vine field day on May, 8th.

The Background Church

Die evangelische Bernhardskirche in Rohracker, im Vordergrund ein Wohnhaus mit Garage. Erst durch Glockengeläut habe ich die Kirche überhaupt wahrgenommen.

The Protestant church named "Bernhardskirche" in Rohracker. In the foreground there is a house with garage. I saw this church because of its bell-ringing.

Old School

Die "Alte Schule" in Rohracker. Bis 1972 wurden hier noch Kinder unterrichtet. Heute gehört es dem "Förderverein Alte Schule Rohracker e.V." und wird für viele Aktivitäten (z.B. Kurse, Vorlesungen, Feste) genutzt.

The "Old School" in Rohracker. This building was used as a school until 1972. Today it is managed by a society named "Foerderverein Alte Schule Rohracker e.V." (society of friends of the "Old School"). There are some rooms for rent for parties or readings.

Greene Stuttgart

Auf dem Weg von meinem Garten zur Bushaltestelle im Hedelfinger Stadtteil Rohracker bietet sich dieser tolle Blick auf die Weinberge der Burghalde, unterhalb des Frauenkopfes. Herrlich, oder?

We're in Rohracker, a part of the district of Hedelfingen. I was heading back from my garden to  the bus stop. On the way you've this amazing view to vineyards at Burghalde which are situated neath the Frauenkopf. This view is wonderful, isn't it?
