This poetical horse is situated on the brink of a parking place at Willi-Bleicher-Straße in the centre. The words on the horse belong to the poem "Gruß an Stuttgart" (salute to Stuttgart) written by Karl Gerok.

This wooden horse is situated on Neckarstraße and Heinrich-Baumann-Straße in the East of Stuttgart. Unfortunately I haven't any informations about this artwork. Who has created it? Diese Brauereipferde dienen als Türgriff bei der Brauerei Dinkelacker in der Tübinger Straße in S-Süd.

The dray-horses are used as door knobs of the entrance of the Dinkelacker brewery at Tübinger Straße in Süd.

Wir stehen hier direkt vor dem Eingang mit Blick zum Marienplatz. Bei der Phototour hat mich mein Sohn Felix begleitet.

We stand in front of the main entrance with the view to Marienplatz. At this photo tour my son Felix has gone with me.

Dieses "Pferdle" befindet sich auf einem Metallgerüst, das auf das "Zapata" aufmerksam machen soll. Das Ganze befindet sich auf dem Wizemann-Areal an der Pragstraße.

This horse is fixed to a metal scaffold which indicates to a cultural place named "Zapata". You can find it at the "Wizemann Areal", an ancient factory site.

Hier das Pferdchen etwas näher. Herrlich auch die Wolken im Hintergrund.

Dieses Relief mit einem reitenden Knaben (oder jungen Mann) befindet sich an einem Wohnhaus in der Arminstraße in Heslach. Das Gebäude selbst ist eher durchschnittlich. Das Dach und die efeubewachsene Mauer davor, mit Schnee bedeckt, bilden jedoch einen interessanten Rahmen.

This relief which shows a riding boy (or young man) is situated at a house wall. The building on Arminstraße in Heslach looks quite averaged. But the snowcapped roof and the wall overgrown with ivy or Virginia creeper make an interesting framework.

Wer achtet schon auf die Gestaltung von Gullydeckeln? Man läuft einfach drüber und fertig. Manchmal lohnt aber ein Blick nach unten.

Who minds the design of gully covers? You just walk past them. That was it! But it is worthwhile to look down at the way.

Es war gar nicht so einfach, ein Bild zu machen, denn es war ganz schon windig und das Windspiel war ständig in Bewegung. Eine kurze Flaute hat mir aber dann doch endlich einen Gefallen getan.

It was not easy to make the photos of this wind chime. There was a strong wind blowing and the wind chime was on the move all the time. But I was able to use a short calm to make some shots.

Gleich am Rosensteinsteg steht dieses Windspiel. Ein Bank lädt zum Verweilen ein.

The wind chime is situated near a small bridge named "Rosensteinsteg". There is also a bench which invites to stay and to view.

Der Brunnen auf dem Marktplatz, zur Zeit eingebettet in das Weindorf.

This is the fountain at the Marktplatz in the city centre. It is embeded into the Wine Village in the moment.

Gut zu erkennen ist eine Stute mit ihrem saugenden Fohlen.
There are a mare with her sucking foal displayed on the column.

There are some symbols of the Wine Village at the fountain - flambeaux, branches and vines (of course).

Dieses Pferdchen steht vor dem Eingang des "Maritim"-Hotels, neben dem Bosch-Areal im Stuttgarter Westen. Das untere Foto zeigt den Eingang zum Hotel. Dahinter befindet sich die alte "Stuttgarter Reithalle" - auf Grund einer Veranstaltung konnte ich dort noch nicht fotografieren.

The first shot shows an unreined horse beside the entrance of the "Maritim" hotel. The hotel is situated in the West of Stuttgart near the "Bosch-Areal". The 2nd photo shows the entrance of the hotel and the vehicle access. Behind it there is the old Stuttgart indoor riding hall. There was an event so I couldn't made some photos.

Diese Tafel hängt an der Fassade eines Gebäudes, das unter dem Namen "Haus König von England" bekannt ist. Der Name nimmt Bezug auf ein Hotel, das einst an diesem Platz stand. Durch Kriegseinwirkungen wurde das Hotel nahezu vollständig zerstört.

This plaque is installed at the facade of a building named "Haus König von England" (King Of England house). This name refers to a hotel of the same name which was almost completely destroyed in WWII.

An seiner Stelle wurde dieses Geschäftshaus gebaut.
An office building was built on its place.

Stellt Euch mal vor einer der Statuen und schaut den Rössern direkt ins Auge. Faszinierend...

Steed tamers is the name of the statues. It's amazing to stand in front of one of the statues and to look in the steed's eyes.

Keine Ahnung, was die Datumsangaben zu bedeuten haben. Vielleicht von den Radlern oder Läufern, die hier vorbeikommen und so eine Art Sport-Tagebuch führen... Sie haben jedenfalls nichts mit dem Schild zu tun.

I don't know the meaning of the data. They are possibly written by the cyclists or runners which come by here. There is no context with the plate.

Beinahe hätte ich diese kleinen Pferdchen an einem Wohnhaus gegenüber vom Alten Schlachthof übersehen. Was für Pferdestärken!

I've almost ignored these small horses at an apartment building opposite to the pig's museum. What horsepower!

Nicht gerade das schönste Beispiel, aber dafür höchst amtlich. Das offizielle Symbol der Stadt Stuttgart.

It's not the finest example, but a formal one. It's the symbol of the city of Stuttgart and its institutions.

So sieht das "Ding" aus, auf dem das Pferd abgebildet ist. Es handelt sich hierbei um einen Behälter für Streusand.

It's a box for grit.

Stuttgart's Horses - No. One In A Series

Heute möchte eine zwanglose Serie von Bildern mit Pferden beginnen. Wie jeder weiß, leitet sich Stuttgart von dem Namen "Stu(o)tengarten" ab, weil der Ort in früherer Zeit als Pferdegestüt gegründet wurde. Man kann also annehmen, dass es dazu jede Menge Hinweise in der Stadt gibt. Das heutige Photo stammt von der Grundschule Gaisburg, einem eher unscheinbaren Gebäude. Doch das Pferdebild fand ich großartig und als Start dieser Serie bestens geeignet.
Today I start a series with photos of horses. The horse is the heraldic animal of the city of Stuttgart. The name derives from the old name "Stuotengarten" (Engl.: garden of the mares), because Stuttgart was founded as a stud in former times. It is assumed that you can find a lot of clues for that. I have made the above photo at a school. The building is not really impressive, but the horse is qualified to start this serial.
