March 2010 Theme Day: Passageway

The March 2010 Theme Day means "Passageway". I've thought twice what I could publish for this reason. There are many suitable themes. I've decided for the unique timber bridge over the Neckar. Click here to view thumbnails for all participants.

I like this contribution to the Theme, Steffen. The lower image show the perspective over distance, but I really like all the lines in the top image, those of the trees cutting through those of the bridge itself. I am glad you posted these images of your bridge over the Neckar.

Wow, that is a beautiful covered bridge! I like the second shot best for the way it pulls my ey through the bridge to the other side; but, I also love being able to see the side view of it spanning the river for all the details it has and how graceful a structure it truly is. Wonderful for theme day! Do you know when this was built? It looks fairly new.

Dear visitors, thank you for your affectionate comments. The name of this bridge is "Cannstatter Steg", it was built in 1977. It's 158 metres long. It's the ninth longest covered wooden bridge of the world!

Not quite the bridges of Madison County, but it does look a fine bridge.

I like the second shot, takes me on an interesting journey, though I'd rather do it in summer time.

This is a nice one. I like both views.

We have them here for cars to travel over. Some are very old.

Love this bridge. I've visited it myself one time when I was judging in your city. It's just lovely. And two really good shots.

ah, very cool! it's interesting how different this building looks from the side and front. It looks precarious from the front, doesn't it, but more like a tube from the side.

Very nice!

Very unique - at least to my experience. But it's absolutely beautiful and what a wonderful thing to have on a cold winter's day or a hot summer's day - a covered bridge over a river.

Super post!
