O'zapft is ... bald!
State Secretary, Mr. Richard Drautz, has needed some hits for drawing the first litre of beer. Then the concern leadership of Stuttgarter Hofbräu, the master brewer and the Queen of Beer could call: O'zapft is!
And now there is beer for free while stocks last ...
The horses were patient and a nice motif for photographers.
The weather was fine. The people have cavorted open-air rather than in the halls.
There was great music from the band "Lucky Brass".

Very impressive Steffen. Surely you must go to work sometimes!
Sounds like a wonderful festival. I would have loved to be there enjoying the atmosphere.
Looks like a lot of fun! Hey, can ya wrong with beer?????? I think not.
This is an excellent post, Steffen! Thank you for sharing an intimate look into Stuttgart's culture...it is fascinating...from the beer to the people to the clothing. And it would seem a real community event - great fun!
My husband would be in heaven...I don't drink beer but I did once in Munich just to experience it in Germany!
Looks like a very, very fun time!
Cheers!
What amazing horse costumes. The city goes all out for this event.
Darryl and Ruth : )
I wish we could be there! My husband and I like beer (stout, preferably) and we've never experienced anything like this. The horses, their harness and the wagon they're pulling are really handsome.
This looks like a great beer-drinking festival. I am glad I found your blog.
Looks like an enjoyable time. Practice for Oktoberfest?
@rob: not "oktoberfest". HEre in Stuttgart you have the "Wasen". A size smaller as in Munich.
Looks like it was very fun. Those horses in their fancy harnesses are so pretty, and the wagon so festive. Hope the brews were tasty as it all looks and I'm sure the music kept everybody in a very happy mood.
